The Boyne Music Festival is delighted to present an exhibition of the work of Irish artist Lucy O’Gorman at Townley Hall from Friday, August 9th through Sunday, August 11th.

Lucy O’Gorman designs and creates her unique ceramic pieces by drawing inspiration from the hinterland of Slane and the historical landmarks that scatter the Boyne Valley. Lucy’s ceramics range from functional crockery and tableware to sculptural and commissioned pieces. Her work is influenced by mythology, archaeology and seascapes. She is widely known for Neolithic representations on her ceramic pieces and is very popular with local customers and international visitors. She has innovative and unique pieces to reflect light, ranging from large candle holders to models of Lawrence’s Gate and the Hill of Slane.

Lucy will have a unique range of bespoke sculptural pieces on display including Boann, the goddess of the Boyne. She represents aspects of our Neolithic heritage from Knowth and Newgrange with pieces including Raku fired shields and large vessels inspired by the basins in the burial chambers.

Lucy has developed a broad range of techniques that include firing electric and gas kilns, the use of Japanese Raku firing and the incorporation of glass in her ceramic pieces to give her work a distinctive and vibrant effect. Her love of excitement and need for the unpredictable comes through in her more abstract pieces.

Lucy was a co-founder of the hugely successful Slane Craft Collective and a member of Ceramics Ireland. She has featured on both television and print media including Joe Duffy’s Local Heroes in 2013 and the Aer Lingus Cara magazine.
