The BMF is delighted to invite young chamber ensembles to apply for participation in the 2024 BMF Young Artist Programme.
2024 BMF Young Artist Programme
The Boyne Music Festival (BMF) was established in 2013 to bring world-class artists to the North East of Ireland each summer for a weekend of chamber music, poetry and song. Alongside the festival, the BMF offers a Young Artist Programme for talented emerging artists.
The 2024 BMF Young Artist programme is open to string players, wind players, pianists and singers aged 18-29. Selected ensembles / duos will join BMF Artists in residence at Townley Hall 24th - 28th July 2024. Each ensemble / duo will receive 3 hours of coaching, rehearse selected repertoire side-by-side with BMF Artists, and participate in professional development and wellness sessions. Tutors confirmed for this summer include William Butt, Ana Maria Labin, Deirdre Brenner and Vourneen Ryan.
Townley Hall was built in 1799 and is regarded as a masterpiece in the classical style of Francis Johnston, the foremost Irish architect of his day. Situated in the seclusion of expansive private grounds, it offers an ideal location for BMF activites. BMF performances take place in the library utilising the beautiful Steinway D at home there and inspiring acoustics. All masterclasses, rehearsals and other sessions will take place at Townley.
The BMF intends to invite two chamber groups into this programme. Pre-formed ensembles and voice-piano duos are preferred. Musicians selected as Young Artists will be accepted on a scholarship basis: food, accommodation and the cost of tuition will be covered by the BMF. Practice facilities are also available within Townley Hall.
Young Artists are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Drogheda.
How to Apply
Please complete the Application Form below and submit by MARCH 29th at 5pm. Information about each ensemble member is required, as well as preferred repertoire. An audio or video recording of the ensemble / duo is recommended though not required. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by April 15th.
