The World Portraits
Photo Exhibition by Andrej Grilc
The BMF is delighted to present a selection of photographs from a multi-year book project by photographer Andrej Grilc titled "In 80 Portraits Around the World." In this project, Grilc crosses the line of separation in public space and invites us to the intimate space of individuals. The personalities and their stories shine with a full palette of emotions.
The exhibition celebrates the diversity of humanity and points out the loss of cultural uniqueness in a rapidly evolving global world. It presents portraits from India, China, Palestine, Morocco, Cuba, New Zealand, Italy, Egypt, and Ireland.
Photographs are black & white in a square format (800mm x 800mm) and are printed on a durable background.
Award-winning photographer Andrej Grilc is one of the most sought-after music photographers of the younger generation. He was born into a family with long tradition in photography, dating back three generations to 1942.
Parallel to this, Andrej Grilc passionately pursues street photography, currently dedicated to a project titled "In 80 Portraits Around the World." Throughout this ongoing, multi-year endeavor, he ventures to distant locales, capturing the essence of inspiring individuals deeply rooted in their cultures. Grilc is drawn to faces from bygone eras, faces that teeter on the edge of vanishing in our rapidly evolving world and tries to preserve them via means of photography. His set of portraits of India "Portraits of Varanasi" were awarded by Natural Density Photography awards.
This exhibition will be presented in the gallery at Townley Hall during the entire festival weekend.
