The Boyne Music Festival is delighted to partner with the non-profit Lied the Future to support the participation of Jorian van Nee in the BMF Young Artist Programme.
Jorian van Nee (born 13 December 1999) studied piano at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Frank Peters. His previous teachers include David Kuyken at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Henk Ekkel at the Academie Muzikaal Talent, and Huub de Leeuw and Kirsten van Os. He has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Igor Roma, Ronald Brautigam, and Jan Wijn, and also took composition lessons with Willem Jeths.
Jorian performs regularly as both a soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared with orchestras including the Residentie Orkest in The Hague and Sinfonia Rotterdam. He has been featured several times on the Dutch television programme Podium Klassiek and even appeared in the New Year's Eve edition of Top 2000 a Gogo.
In addition to performing, Jorian is an active composer. His own works have been performed in concert and he has presented his compositions live on Dutch national television (NPO 4). In 2013, he won First Prize at the Princess Christina Competition and also received First Prize at the Princess Christina Composition Competition for two of his own piano works. In 2015, he was awarded the prize for Best Accompanist at the Princess Christina Competition. He has also received prizes at the Peter the Great Festival and the Young Pianist Foundation Competition.
Alongside his solo career, Jorian performs with pianist Katie Morgan as the MorganvanNee Piano Duo, winners of the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Competition. As a song duo with soprano Noëlle Drost, he has won prizes at both the International LiedDuo Competition and the International Vocal Competition.
A highly sought-after collaborative pianist, Jorian regularly performs with artists including Sasha Witteveen, Noëlle Drost, Thomas Prechal, Florianne Remme, Emma and Katja Naegele, the Audax Trio, and brothers Julian and Valentijn Jeukendrup, with whom he forms the Serafin Trio.
Jorian frequently composes new works for solo piano and chamber ensembles, which are regularly featured in concert programmes. In 2025, he was selected for the AVROTROS Virtuoos project, which included the recording of a CD. He performs on a Bechstein grand piano generously provided by the Dutch National Musical Instruments Foundation (Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds).
