Jacqueline Thomas has been cellist with the Brodsky Quartet since she was 10 years old. She grew up in Middlesbrough, England in the 1970s where an extraordinarily vibrant educational musical environment, almost a forerunner to the famous Venezuelan El Sistema, produced many of today's top professional musicians. She went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music under Raphael Sommer and Ralph Kirshbaum, taking part in masterclasses with Paul Tortelier and Zara Nelsova. Throughout her career she has frequently performed concertos and other forms of chamber music, as well as composing and arranging, but it is the quartet that has been her life since she formed it all those years ago. With over 3000 performances and 70 recordings to their name, the quartet is one of the leading forces of the musical world today.
