BMF Young Artist: Donica Tran
Violinist Donica Tran is a graduate of the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) where she was the recipient of several major awards and scholarships including the Ena Williams Award, Joyce Campbell Lloyd Scholarship, QCGU International Travel Bursary, Vada Jefferies Bach Prize, Griffith Award for Academic Excellence and the ANAM Obbligato Chamber Music Prize. She was also the winner of the Australian Youth Classical Music Competition where she received a generous scholarship enabling her to continue her study overseas in Austria at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversitat with Professor Meesun Hong Coleman.
A passionate chamber musician, Donica is a founding member of the prize-winning Artamidae Quartet, who were selected to appear in the 2023 ANAM Quartetthaus Season in Melbourne, as well as the Peninsula Summer Music Festival, and Bendigo Chamber Music Festival. The quartet have also had the pleasure of presenting the Australian String Quartet’s Project Ludwig, touring throughout Victoria performing Beethoven’s Op.18 Quartets.
In 2021 as part of the ANAM Set, Donica collaborated with composer and pianist Andrea Keller on a piece for solo violin called ‘Other Selves’, which Donica performed at the ANAM set festival and live to air on 3MBS radio. Donica has also enjoyed playing with the Australian Chamber Orchestra as an Emerging Artist, and was recently a part of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Academy. Donica has also been invited to perform as a Young Artist in the Brisbane Music Festival and Canberra International Music Festival, and is looking forward to performing in the Boyne Music Festival this year.
