2022 Boyne Music Festival Young Artists
The Anam Cara string quartet was formed in late 2021 in RIAM under the tutelage of Christopher Marwood, Aoife Nic Athlaoich and Sarah Sew. They have participated in masterclasses with members of the Signum and Navarra quartets. They recently won the Hazel de Courcy Lewis and the Chamber Music Cup in the 2022 Feis Ceoil. Recent concert engagements have included performances at RIAM Chamberfest and the Feis Ceoil lunchtime recital series.
Shane Quinn
Shane Quinn is a violinist, currently studying with Prof. Sarah Sew at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. This year Shane was awarded the Arthur Caterall Cup at the Feis Ceoil. In 2020, he was the winner of the John Pollard bursary at the RIAM. He is a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and leader of the Dublin Youth Symphony Orchestra. He plays in many chamber music groups and took part in West Cork Chamber Music in 2021.
Elena Ryan
Elena Ryan is a Kildare-based Violist. A recent graduate of Maynooth University, she is currently studying to obtain the Diploma of Performance and Teaching at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She is a member of the Dara string quartet in Kildare. She has played with a number of orchestras which include Maynooth University Orchestra and County Kildare Orchestra as well as Royal Irish Academy Philharmonia
Elizabeth Ní Mhaoláin
Elizabeth Ní Mhaoláin is a violinist, currently studying with Mia Cooper at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, Co-Orch Dublin, Julianstown Youth Orchestra and RIAM Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras. She is a multiple prizewinner at the Feis Ceoil. She has a great passion for chamber music and is delighted to be returning to the Boyne Music Festival as a Young Artist.
Doireann Ní Aodáin
Doireann Ní Aodáin is a cellist in the 1st year of a Bachelors of Music Performance at the RIAM. She studies with Martin Johnson and WIlliam Butt. She has been a member of NYOI since 2019 and has previously been a member of CYO, JCYO, and UYO. She has led both the Junior Cork Youth Orchestra and Transition Year Orchestra Project in the Cork School of Music.
