Poetry Reading: Peter Fallon

Peter Fallon's poetry began in Loughcrew in County Meath and has found its way around the world. He will read from his latest collection Strong, My Love. The talk will be interspersed with musical excerpts performed by BMF artists, twins Aisling and Julie-Anne Manning.

A prize-winning Irish poet, his books include The Georgics of Virgil (Oxford World’s Classics), The Company of Horses and Strong, My Love. Recent poems have appeared in The Guardian (England) and The New York Times.

At the age of eighteen he founded The Gallery Press, Ireland’s leading literary publishing company, and over more than forty-eight years he has edited and published five hundred books of poems and plays by the country's finest established and emerging authors. He recently edited the five-volume Collected Plays of Brian Friel.

A member of Aosdána, Ireland's 'academy' of artists, and Honorary Member of the Royal Irish Academy, he has been Writer Fellow and Adjunct Professor of English at his alma mater, Trinity College, Dublin.  He was inaugural Heimbold Professor at Villanova University and held the Burns Chair at Boston College (2012-13). He lives in Loughcrew in County Meath where he farmed for many years.
